Principal purpose
Hole in the Clouds's principal object is to act as a Public Benevolent Institution providing direct relief to children and young people suffering distress, helplessness or misfortune as a result of family separation or breakdown.
Summary of governing objects
To achieve its principal purpose, the organisation's governing document provides for it to:
- Establish and maintain a neutral, child-focused facility in the Blue Mountains region to facilitate safe parental handovers.
- Provide a platform for children to voice their needs and opinions regarding their family situation.
- Operate after-school and holiday programs providing educational support, life skills and emotional respite.
- Provide resources and guidance to parents to encourage cooperative co-parenting.
- Organise respite trips, excursions and cultural exchange programs to provide positive external influences.
Not-for-profit purpose
Hole in the Clouds's assets and income are intended to be applied solely toward its stated objects. No portion is to be distributed to members, except as bona fide compensation for services rendered or expenses incurred on the organisation's behalf.
Governance commitment
Hole in the Clouds is being established under a formal governing document setting out its objects, membership and committee structure, in line with the requirements for Australian incorporated associations.
Child safety commitment
Child safety is treated as fundamental to every planned program. See our Child Safety page for our public commitment.
Transparency
As Hole in the Clouds establishes formal policies and documents, this page and our Child Safety page will be updated to link to them directly.
Registration status
Hole in the Clouds intends to apply to the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) for registration as a charity with the Public Benevolent Institution (PBI) subtype, and to seek Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) endorsement through the appropriate process. As at the date of publishing, this application has not yet been lodged, and no ACNC registration, PBI subtype confirmation, or DGR endorsement has been granted.
Governing document, policies and formal registration details will be linked from this page once finalised and confirmed.
